Chanchangi Airlines


Chanchangi airlines is a privately operated and owned airline operating from Nigeria's major airports. The airline has it's head office in Kaduna in Nigeria. The airline operates scheduled domestic services from Lagos Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Abuja Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport and Port Harcourt International Airport. Chancahngi Airlines was founded in January of 1994 by Alhaji Chanchangi. It started operations on May 2 1997. Chanchangi has won the Federal Airports of Nigeria award for best airline in 1998, 1999 and 2000. The Airline was grounded on Jul 5 2010 after failing to meet the requirements of government for each airline to operate more than 1 aircraft. Chanchangi Airlines resumed operations on October 21 2010.

Chancahngi Airlines Boeing 737-200 5N-BIF operating as flight no 334 strikes a localiser antenna and lands short of the runway at Kaduna airport. Several passengers suffered minor injuries. The airline operations were temporarily suspended.

Chancahngi Airlines Boeing 727 from Kaduna to Abuja en route to Lagos suffers a cockpit fire.

22 Aug 2006

Chancahngi Airlines Boeing 727 makes a hard landing after two tyres burst at Abuja Nnamdi Azikiwe International. There were 98 passengers on board and no casualties.

10 Dec 2005

Chancahngi Airlines operations are suspended based on reports that operations are unsafe. The airline resumed operations on 22 Dec 2005 after passing inspections from the aviation authority.

29 Dec 2004

Chancahngi Airlines Boeing 727 from Port Harcourt crash landed. 81 people on board were unscathed.
